About

The Andhra Mahavishnu Temple Srikakulam, also known locally as Srikakulandhra Maha Vishnu Temple, Srikakulam Andhra Vishnu Temple, and Andhra Nayaka Temple, is a revered ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

Situated on the scenic riverbank in Ghantasala Mandal within the Diviseema region of Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, this temple stands as a significant pilgrimage centre for devotees seeking spiritual solace and divine blessings.

The temple’s architecture reflects a mixed and renovated style, bearing the marks of its long history. Originally established during the Satavahana era, it was later reconstructed by the Cholas and subsequently restored by the Vijayanagara rulers and the Challapalli Zamindars.

Its heritage status as a state-recognized monument underscores its cultural and historical importance in the region. Pilgrims visiting the Andhra Mahavishnu Temple can participate in daily rituals and poojas conducted in both Sanskrit and Telugu.

The temple offers free darshan to all devotees, making it accessible for everyone. The daily Nitya Pooja and Sarva Darshan are held from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM and again from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, aligning with the temple’s official timings.

Special Nakshatra and Graha Parihara Poojas are performed on Wednesdays, with offerings available at nominal prices of ₹20 and ₹100, allowing devotees to seek specific blessings.

The temple is particularly vibrant during major festivals such as Vaikunta Ekadasi or Mukkoti Ekadasi, celebrated in December–January, and Karthika Masam, observed in November–December.

Other significant events include the Sri Krishnadevaraya Amuktamalyada literary celebrations and Jayanthi during Vaishnava calendar periods, as well as the grand Kalyanotsavam and Brahmamautsavam held in the lunar months of Vaisakha or Chaitra.

These festivals draw large gatherings of devotees and are marked by special rituals and community activities. Prasadam is an integral part of the temple experience, with standard offerings like puliyodarai, sweet pongal, tulasi, and tirtham distributed after daily poojas.

During festival times, donor-sponsored annadanam is occasionally organized, providing free meals to devotees and enhancing the spirit of service and community.

The best time to visit the Andhra Mahavishnu Temple is during the winter months from November to February, especially in the early morning hours between 5:00 and 8:00 AM, when the temple atmosphere is serene and conducive to worship.

For further details or inquiries, devotees can contact the temple office at 08671-255238. The Andhra Mahavishnu Temple Srikakulam remains a cherished destination for darshan, pooja participation, and experiencing the spiritual heritage of Andhra Pradesh.
