About

Sri Thimmamma Marrimanu Temple is a revered ancient temple and pilgrimage centre located in Thimmampalli / Y.Chintakayamanda, near Kadiri in the Ananthapuramu district of Andhra Pradesh.

Also locally known as Thimmamma Marrimanu, Gutibayalu, Marri Thimmamma, and Thimmampalli, this temple holds deep spiritual significance for devotees of Goddess Shakti (Amman) and also features a local manifestation of Lord Shiva.

The temple is uniquely associated with the sacred Thimmamma Marrimanu tree and the samadhi of Thimmamma, with its origins not attributed to any royal or dynastic builder, but rather to the sanctity of the site itself.

Pilgrims visiting the Sri Thimmamma Marrimanu Temple can participate in poojas such as Archana and Abhishekam, which are performed in Telugu. The temple offers both free darshan and a special darshan option for a nominal fee of INR 5, making it accessible to all devotees.

The temple is open daily from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with timings sometimes extending to 6:00 PM or 6:30 PM during certain seasons.

For the best experience, visitors are encouraged to plan their darshan during the winter months from November to February, or during the early morning hours between 5:00 and 8:00 AM, as well as during the evening aarti time.

The temple observes a modest dress code to maintain the sanctity of the premises. Men are requested to wear traditional or modest casual clothing such as dhotis, trousers, or long pants with shirts or t-shirts, while shorts and beachwear are discouraged.

Women are advised to wear sarees, salwar kameez, or long skirts with dupattas, ensuring that shoulders and knees are covered. Maha Shivaratri Jatara, celebrated in February-March, is the major festival at Sri Thimmamma Marrimanu Temple.

During this time, devotees can receive prasadam such as vibhuti, kumkum, and simple sweets or fruits. Free annadanam is also organized by local committees during Maha Shivaratri, though it is not a daily occurrence.

The temple is recognized as a state heritage site and offers designated paid parking lots and street-side parking for visitors. Basic wheelchair accessibility is available at the entrance and parking area, and restrooms are provided for convenience.

Photography is generally permitted in open outdoor areas, but visitors are expected to maintain respectful behavior near the shrine and samadhi. Commercial or intrusive video recording inside the sanctum may be restricted.

Sri Thimmamma Marrimanu Temple stands as a significant spiritual destination in Andhra Pradesh, drawing pilgrims seeking darshan, pooja, and blessings in a serene and historic setting.
