About

Sri Sitaramachandra Swami Temple Bhadrachalam, also known locally as Bhadrachalam Temple, Bhadradri, Bhadragiri, and Dakshina Ayodhya, stands as a revered pilgrimage centre in the town center of Bhadrachalam, Andhra Pradesh.

Situated near the serene banks of the Godavari River atop the Bhadragiri Hills in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, this ancient temple is renowned for its Dravidian architectural style and its significance as a living heritage temple managed by a panchayat/local trust.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, worshipped here as Sri Sitaramachandra Swami, with shrines for Sita, Lakshmana, Abhaya Anjaneya, Dasa Anjaneya, and Yogananda Narasimha Swamy.

The temple’s spiritual ambiance is further enhanced by its hilltop location and proximity to the river, making it a favored destination for devotees seeking darshan and spiritual solace.

Devotees can avail themselves of various darshan options, including free darshan, special darshan (for a fee of ₹50), and VIP darshan.

The temple is open for darshan from 4:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the best times to visit being early mornings, during the winter months (November to February), and during festival seasons.

The temple observes a traditional dress code: men are advised to wear dhoti or formal trousers with a shirt, while women should wear saree, salwar kameez, or chudidar with dupatta.

A rich schedule of poojas is conducted daily in Sanskrit and Telugu, including Antaralaya Abhishekam (Sundays, 6:00–7:00 AM), Abhishekam at the Bhadra Temple (7:00–8:00 AM), Sakalbhishtaprada Sree Ramapuja (8:30 AM), Sahasranamarchana (8:30–9:30 AM), and Nitya Kalyana Ubhayam (9:30–11:00 AM), among others.

Special poojas such as Vahana Seva and Rajata Ratha Seva are also performed in the evenings. The temple celebrates major festivals like Sri Rama Navami (March-April), Vaikuntha Ekadashi (December-January), Teppotsavam, Vijayadashami, and Vasanthotsavam, drawing large numbers of pilgrims.

Reaching Bhadrachalam is convenient via road, rail, and air. Regular buses connect from Hyderabad, Vijayawada, and Rajahmundry. The nearest railway station is Bhadrachalam Road (BDCR), 39 km away, with local transport options available. Rajahmundry and Vijayawada airports are the closest by air.

For accommodation, the temple Devasthanam manages several Sadanams (A/C and non-A/C), and there are Haritha Hotel and numerous private hotels and satrams nearby. The temple offers large open parking, lift and wheelchair accessibility, and provides free Annadanam daily at Amma Satram.

Kalyana Prasadam is particularly well-known among devotees. Photography is not permitted inside the main temple, and mobile devices must be deposited in lockers. For more information or online darshan, visit the official website at https://bhadradritemple.telangana.gov.in.

Nearby attractions include Parnasala, Godavari River, Ushnagundam, Abhayanjaneya Swamy Temple, Dummugudem, and Papikondalu, making Bhadrachalam a holistic pilgrimage and travel destination.
