About

Sri Lakshminarasimha Swami Temple Antargami, also locally known as Yadagirigutta, Yadadri, and Matsyagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, is a revered hill temple and pilgrimage centre located on Matsyagiri Hill in Valigonda Mandal, near Venkatapuram in Nalgonda district, Andhra Pradesh.

This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, worshipped here in his powerful Narasimha avatar, along with various forms such as Jwala Narasimha, Yogananda Narasimha, Gandabherunda Narasimha, Ugra Narasimha, and Lakshmi Narasimha.

The temple is recognized as a living heritage site managed by a panchayat or local trust. While the exact historical period is unknown or disputed, the temple’s modern structure has been heavily rebuilt, and tradition attributes its origins to sage Yada Maharishi.

The architecture style is unique and does not conform to conventional categories. Devotees can visit the Sri Lakshminarasimha Swami Temple Antargami between 6:00 AM and 1:00 PM, and again from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The best time to visit is during the early morning hours, morning, or at evening aarti time. The temple is especially vibrant during the festival season, winter months (November to February), and the annual Brahmotsavam.

Major festivals celebrated at the temple include Sri Swamy Vari Brahmotsavam (February–March), Kalyanotsavam (March), Narasimha Jayanti (April–May), Ugadi (March–April), Sravana Masam Festivities (July–August), Sarannavarathri Utsavam (October), Dhanurmasa Rituals (December), and Mukkoti Mahostavam (January).

Darshan options include free darshan, special darshan (with a nominal fee of ₹20), and VIP darshan.

Poojas and sevas performed here include Suprabhatha Seva, Nithya Kalyanotsavam (10:00 AM – 11:30 AM), Saswata Pujas, Abhishekam, Laksha Tulasi Puja, and Pavalimpu Seva, conducted in Telugu and Sanskrit.

Devotees are expected to follow a traditional dress code: men are advised to wear dhoti or kurta, while women should opt for saree, chudidar, or salwar kameez.

For those planning a visit, the temple is accessible from Hyderabad via the Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway (NH65), with clear signposts leading towards Mattapalli. APSRTC and TSRTC buses ply frequently from Nalgonda and Suryapet to Kodad and Mattapalli.

The nearest railway stations are Raigir/Wangapally (17 km) and Miryalaguda (50 km), while the closest airports are Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad (160 km) and Vijayawada Airport (150 km).

Parking is available at the base of the hill, with access provided by steps and improved pathways. Accommodation options include Devasthanam cottages and limited private hotels in Mattapalli, with more comfortable hotels available in Suryapet and Kodad, about 30–40 km away.

The temple offers Yadagirigutta Laddu and Panakam as prasadam, and free Annadanam is provided, especially during festivals. Photography is strictly regulated, with cameras and mobile phones not allowed inside the main sanctum and photography of the deity forbidden.

Nearby attractions include Vedadri Narasimha Swamy Temple (25 km), Panagal’s Sri Chaya Someshwara Temple, and Yadagirigutta Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple (90 km), making this temple a significant spiritual destination in Andhra Pradesh.
