Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple Vadapally

This ancient riverbank temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his powerful Narasimha avatar, with Goddess Lakshmi, Garuda, Jaya, and Vijaya also worshipped within its sacred precincts.

The temple’s origins trace back to the Reddy Kings (Reddy Rasulu) of Kondavidu and Rajamahendravaram, who reconstructed the site around 1377 CE. The location itself is historically significant, with associations to Sage Agastya.

Recognized as a state heritage monument, the temple stands as a testament to the region’s spiritual and architectural legacy, though its style is classified as “Other”. Devotees can seek darshan during the temple’s operating hours: 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Entry for darshan is free, allowing pilgrims to experience the divine atmosphere without any fee. The best time to visit is during the early morning hours (5–8 AM) or morning (8 AM–12 PM), especially in the winter months from November to February, or during the vibrant festival season.

Major festivals celebrated here include Narasimha Jayanthi in May/June, Karthika Masam in November–December, and on Swathi Nakshatram days, drawing large gatherings of devotees.

Visitors are expected to adhere to a traditional dress code: men should wear dhoti with uttariyam or full-length trousers and shirts, while women are encouraged to wear saree, half-saree, or salwar kameez/churidar with a dupatta.

Modest and decent attire is required, and modern casual wear is discouraged. Reaching the temple is convenient from Hyderabad via the Vijayawada Highway (NH 65), passing through Hayathnagar, Chityal, Nalgonda, Nakrekal, and Miryalaguda, with Vadapally located about 20–25 km from Miryalaguda.

From Nalgonda, state highways connect to Miryalaguda and onward to Vadapally. The nearest railway stations are Miryalaguda (20 km) and Nalgonda (70 km), while Vijayawada Airport (140 km) and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad (175 km) serve as the closest air travel options.

Basic pilgrim rest houses and choultries are available near the temple, with more accommodation options in Miryalaguda and Nalgonda. Parking is available in open spaces near the riverbank, though it can be crowded during festivals.

Photography and mobile phone usage are strictly prohibited inside the main sanctum, but casual photography of the outer compound and river view is generally permitted with local approval.
