About

Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple Korukonda stands as a revered ancient hill temple and prominent pilgrimage centre in Korukonda, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh.

Perched atop the scenic Korukonda Hill, this temple is also locally known as the Korukonda Wish Hill Temple and Vaishnava Divya Kshetra.

The temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Vishnu in his Narasimha avatar, with other sanctified shrines for Lakshmi Devi, Dasanjaneya Swamy, and the Utsava deity Sayana Narasimha Swamy.

The temple’s architecture reflects the classic Dravidian style, with intricate details that attract devotees and architecture enthusiasts alike. The spiritual ambiance is heightened by the temple’s hilltop location, accessible by climbing 615 stone steps from the base of Korukonda Hill.

Pilgrims are advised that there is no wheelchair access to the hilltop, but there is adequate open parking at the foothills for cars, two-wheelers, and buses. Darshan at Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is available through free entry, making it accessible to all devotees.

The temple operates two main shrines: the Down Temple is open from 6:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 5:30 PM to 7:45 PM, while the Hilltop Temple welcomes visitors between 6:00/9:00 AM and 12:00/12:30 PM.

The best time to visit is in the morning hours from 8 AM to 12 PM, during the winter months from November to February, or throughout the vibrant festival season.

Devotees can participate in various poojas including Suprabhatha Seva in the early morning, Nitya Archana & Daily Darshanam from 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM, and Pavalimpu Seva (Sayana Seva) at night. Rituals are conducted in both Sanskrit and Telugu, ensuring a deeply traditional experience.

Popular festivals celebrated here include Sri Swamy Vari Kalyana Mahotsavam & Korukonda Theertham and Rathotsavam during Phalguna, Pavlimpotsavam on the full moon after annual celebrations, Ugadi, Sarannavaratri, and Dhanurmasa Puja.

For those traveling, Rajahmundry is the nearest major city, located about 20 km away. The Rajahmundry Railway Station and Rajahmundry Airport provide convenient access. Accommodation options are available in Rajahmundry, with limited guesthouses and lodges near Korukonda.

Traditional prasadam such as puliyodarai, sweet pongal, laddu, and boondi is offered, and annadanam is organized during festivals. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the sanctum but allowed in outer premises as per on-site rules. The temple maintains a traditional dress code, encouraging modest and conservative attire for all visitors.
