About

Ragigudda Anjaneya Temple, also known locally as Ragigudda Sri Prasanna Anjaneyaswamy Temple or The Rock Temple of Bangalore, is a renowned hill temple and pilgrimage centre dedicated primarily to Lord Hanuman.

Located in Jayanagara 9th Block, Bengaluru, Karnataka, this temple stands as a spiritual landmark in the city, attracting devotees and visitors throughout the year.

Established in 1969 by local youth and devotees, the temple has since undergone expansions and renovations, resulting in a mixed architectural style that blends modern elements with traditional features. The temple complex is home to several shrines, with the main sanctum devoted to Lord Hanuman.

Other deities worshipped here include Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesha, Goddess Rajarajeshwari, the Navagrahas, Brahma, and Goddess Annapoorneshwari.

The temple is especially vibrant during major festivals such as Hanuman Jayanti (Margashirsha), Sri Rama Navami (Chaitra), Vaikunta Ekadashi, and Mahashivaratri, drawing large crowds of devotees.

Darshan at the Ragigudda Temple is free, and the temple operates daily from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The best time to visit is during the early morning hours or in winter months (November to February), as well as during festival seasons.

Devotees are encouraged to dress conservatively—men in dhotis, kurtas, or long trousers and collared shirts, and women in sarees, salwar kameez, or long ethnic dresses covering shoulders and legs.

A variety of poojas are performed in the temple, including Vadamala Seva, Panchamrutha Abhishekam, Punarvasu Nakshatra Pooja, Pradosha Pooja, Sri Sathyanarayana Swamy Pooje, and daily Abhishekam in the early morning.

The Evening Mangala Aarti takes place from 8:00 PM to 8:30 PM, and a special Mangala Harathi is performed on Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Poojas are conducted in Sanskrit, Kannada, and English, making the rituals accessible to a wide range of devotees.

Reaching the temple is convenient via public transport. The Namma Metro Yellow Line stops at Ragigudda Metro Station, just a short walk from the temple entrance. Alternatively, the Green Line stops at Jayanagar Metro Station, about 2 km away.

BMTC buses and road routes via Marenahalli Road or Outer Ring Road also provide easy access. Parking is available at the base of the hill, with wheelchair ramps and a lift for accessibility.

For those seeking prasadam, the temple offers daily evening servings of Kesari Bath and Puliyogare, and free Annadanam (lunch) every Saturday at noon. Accommodation options are plentiful nearby, including Bloom Hotel, Hotel Paramos Inn, SFO Hotel and Suites, and Hotel Greenpark Bengaluru.

Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as Banashankari temple, Sri Dodda Ganapathi & Bull Temple, Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Nexus Vega City Mall, and ISKCON Temple Rajajinagar.

Photography is permitted in the outer complex and hillock grounds but is prohibited inside the main sanctum and inner halls. For more details on darshan, poojas, and online services, visit the official website at https://ragigudda.org or call 080-2658-0500.
