Pawan Dham

Dedicated primarily to Lord Krishna, the temple also enshrines deities such as Arjun, Lord Rama, Sita, Radha, Lord Shiva, Parvati, Lakshmi-Narayana, Lord Hanuman, Lord Ganesh, Durga, and Santoshi Mata, making it a spiritual haven for devotees from diverse traditions.

Built in the modern era by Swami Vedantanand Ji Maharaj under the Geeta Bhawan Trust Society (Moga, Punjab), Pawan Dham stands out for its unique architecture, featuring intricate glasswork that gives the temple its popular names.

The temple’s serene ambiance is enhanced by daily aarti and devotional chanting, conducted in Hindi, Sanskrit, and English, allowing pilgrims from different backgrounds to participate in the spiritual rituals.

Pawan Dham is open to devotees every day from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, offering free darshan for all visitors.

The best time to visit is during the winter months from November to February, or in the early morning hours between 5 and 12 AM, when the temple is less crowded and the atmosphere is especially tranquil.

Modest and respectful attire is required: men are advised to wear long trousers or jeans with shirts or kurtas, while women should opt for traditional wear such as salwar kameez, sarees, or kurtis with covered shoulders and legs. The temple comes alive during major Hindu festivals.

Janmashtami, Navratri (Chaitra and Sharad), Diwali & Annakut, and the grand Kumbh Mela or Kanwar Mela are celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm, drawing large numbers of pilgrims.

After the daily aarti, devotees are offered prasadam in the form of consecrated sweets or fruit, and regular bhandara (free food) and Sant Seva are organized for the needy. Reaching Pawan Dham is convenient.

Arrive at Haridwar by train or bus, then head towards Bhupatwala or the Sapta Sarovar region along the Delhi-Dehradun-Rishikesh National Highway (NH 34/NH 7).
