Chandi Devi Temple

The temple is also associated with Anjana Devi and is recognized for its Nagara (North Indian) architectural style. Locally, it is known as Neel Parvat Tirth and Chandi Devi Udankhatola, reflecting its significance in the region.

The temple’s sanctum is accessible via two main routes: a scenic ropeway ride from Chandi Ghat, which takes about 5–7 minutes, or a 3 km stone-paved trek that typically requires 45–60 minutes of uphill walking. After the ropeway, visitors must climb 350 stone steps to reach the main shrine.

Paid parking is available at the ropeway base station, with ample space for cars, buses, and taxis. While the ropeway is accessible, the final stair ascent is necessary for all devotees.

Chandi Devi Temple welcomes pilgrims daily from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with a closure from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM for bhog and cleaning. The best time to visit is early morning (5–8 AM), during winter months (November to February), or in the vibrant festival season.

Major festivals celebrated here include Chaitra Navratri (March–April), Sharad Navratri (September–October), Chandi Chaudas (Narak Chaturdashi in November), and the rotational Kumbh Mela/Maha Kumbh. Darshan at Chandi Devi Temple is free for all visitors.

Daily poojas include the Morning Aarti at 5:30 AM and the Evening Sandhya Aarti at 6:30 PM in summer or 5:30 PM in winter. Devotees can also participate in personal Hawan or Sankalp rituals, conducted in Hindi and Sanskrit.

The temple enforces a modest dress code: men are required to wear full-length trousers or traditional attire with covered shoulders, and women should opt for sarees, salwar kameez, or full-length kurtis, also with covered shoulders and legs.

Leather items are not permitted inside the temple premises. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the sanctum, and mobile phones, video recorders, and cameras are not allowed near the main deity.

However, general photography is allowed in the outer courtyards and the surrounding landscape, with locker facilities available for a nominal fee. For prasadam, devotees receive dry offerings such as panchmewa, red flowers, vermilion, and coconuts.

While there is no large-scale daily annadanam at the hilltop, bhandaras are organized in Haridwar during festivals.
