Mansa Devi Temple

Also known locally as Bilwa Tirth and Siddh Peetha, this ancient temple is an important spiritual destination, drawing pilgrims from across India and beyond.

The temple’s Nagara (North Indian) architectural style reflects its historical roots, having been constructed during the British colonial era by Maharaja Gopal Singh of Manimajra. Today, it stands as a living heritage temple managed by a local trust.

The temple is open daily from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the best time to visit being early mornings (5–8 AM), during the winter months (November to February), and on weekdays to avoid crowds.

Peak pilgrimage seasons can see heavy footfall, so planning your visit accordingly is recommended.

Devotees can participate in the Morning Aarti (4:30–5:00 AM in summer, 5:30–6:00 AM in winter) and Evening Aarti (7:00–7:30 PM in summer, 6:00–6:30 PM in winter), with poojas conducted in Sanskrit and Hindi.

Darshan at Mansa Devi Temple is available in two categories: free darshan with no fee, and special darshan for a fee of ₹250.

The temple enforces a modest dress code: men should wear traditional or formal attire such as full-length kurta-pyjama or trousers with a conservative shirt, while women are required to wear traditional modest clothing like sari or salwar-kameez, with shoulders and knees covered.

Leather items and revealing attire are not permitted. Reaching the temple is convenient. Arrive in Haridwar via Haridwar Junction railway station (3.5 km away) or Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (36 km away).

From Haridwar Railway Station, take an auto-rickshaw or cycle-rickshaw to the Mansa Devi Ropeway Lower Station near Har Ki Pauri. Ascend to the temple either by the Udan Khatola ropeway or by walking the 1.5 km pedestrian path, which includes 786 steps.

Parking is available at municipal lots near the ropeway base for a nominal fee, and the ropeway is accessible for most visitors, though final stairs remain. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the inner sanctum, but allowed in the outer premises and viewing decks.

Lockers are available for storing electronic devices. Prasadam includes dry sweets, mishri, marigold flowers, and vermilion. While there is no daily annadanam, food distributions (bhandaras) are organized during major festivals such as Chaitra Navratri, Sharad Navratri, Kumbh Mela, and Kanwar Mela.
