Parshuram Temple Chiplun

This ancient hill temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Vishnu, with sanctums also for Parshurama, Kam, Kal, and Goddess Renuka Devi, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking darshan and blessings.

The temple complex, characterized by a mixed and renovated architectural style, reflects its historical roots from the Maratha period. It was reconstructed by Swami Paramhans Brahmendra with the support of notable figures such as Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, Kanhoji Angre, and Siddi Rasul Yakut Khan.

Recognized as a state heritage site and managed by a local trust, Parshuram Temple stands as a testament to the region’s rich cultural and spiritual legacy. Devotees can visit the temple daily from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with timings sometimes extending to 9:00 PM during special rituals.

Free darshan is available for all visitors. The temple conducts daily aarti, abhishekam, and archana, with rituals performed in Sanskrit and Marathi. Prasadam, including sweets, dry fruits, and panchamrut, is distributed after aartis and during festivals, and limited free annadanam is offered.

Food is also available at the Bhakt Niwas and on-site facilities.

The best time to visit Parshuram Temple Chiplun is during the winter months (November to February), early mornings between 5 and 8 AM, the monsoon season (June to September), or during major festivals such as Parshurama Jayanti (Akshaya Tritiya), Maha Shivaratri, Ram Navami, Brahmashtami, and Navratri.

The annual brahmotsavam is also a highlight for pilgrims. Reaching the temple is convenient from Chiplun city. Arrive via NH-66 from Mumbai or Pune, then drive or take an auto/taxi northbound through Parshuram Ghat.

Signboards guide visitors to the well-marked uphill road into Parshuram village, leading directly to the temple entrance. Chiplun Railway Station is just 7 km away, while Ratnagiri Airport is the nearest at 65 km.

For accommodation, the temple guesthouse (Bhakt Niwas) offers budget rooms, and several resorts and hotels are located within a 2 km radius or in Chiplun.

Visitors are advised to follow the traditional dress code: men should wear modest Indian attire such as dhoti-kurta or long trousers, while women are encouraged to wear sarees or salwar kameez covering legs and shoulders.

Photography is strictly prohibited inside the main sanctum but allowed in the outer premises unless restricted.
