Parasurameswara Temple

Recognized as an ASI-protected monument and a significant pilgrimage centre, this temple is part of the historic Ekamra Kshetra cluster, lying close to landmarks like Kedar Gouri Vihar and Bindusagar Lake.

Its Kalinga architectural style stands out, drawing devotees, history enthusiasts, and architecture lovers alike. The temple is open for darshan every day from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM, making it accessible for early morning prayers or evening visits.

Free darshan is available to all visitors, and the temple observes a traditional dress code: men are advised to wear dhoti-kurta or full-length trousers with modest shirts, while women should opt for sarees, salwar kameez, or kurtis that cover shoulders and legs.

Shorts and sleeveless attire are discouraged.

Parasurameswara Temple is not only dedicated to Lord Shiva but also houses shrines for several other deities, including Saptamatrikas, Lord Ganesha, Kartikeya, Goddess Chamunda, Ardhanarishvara, Shiva-Parvati, Ganga, Yamuna, Vishnu, Indra, Surya, and Yama.

The temple’s daily rituals include Mangala Arati, Abhisheka of the Shiva Lingam, Sandhya Arati, and Shodashopachara Puja, conducted in Sanskrit and Odia.

Simple prasadam such as fruits, sweets, vibhuti, and charanamrit is distributed after daily poojas, while community meals are offered during major festivals.

Significant festivals celebrated here include Parasuram Ashtami (Parasumastami) in June or July, Maha Shivaratri in February or March, and Karthika Purnima in November or December. These occasions see special poojas and increased footfall from devotees.
