Narayan Sarovar Temple

Also known locally as Narayan Sarovar, Narayansar, Narayansarovara, and Trikamray Temples, this ancient riverbank temple draws devotees seeking spiritual solace and darshan in a tranquil setting.

The temple complex also houses shrines for other deities such as Lakshmi-Narayan, Adinarayan, Govardhannathji, Dwarkanath, Ranchhodraiji, Laxmiji, and Gopalji, making it a significant destination for Vaishnavite worshippers.

The temple’s architecture, while not adhering to any one classical style, reflects the heritage of the region with its modern expansions attributed to Rao Deshalji II in 1828 and original construction by Sundarji Shivji under the Jadeja rule in 1734.

As a living heritage temple managed by a local trust and panchayat, Narayan Sarovar Temple continues to be a vibrant centre of faith and tradition. Darshan at Narayan Sarovar Temple is free for all visitors.

The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and then again from 4:00 PM to 8:45 PM, allowing ample time for devotees to participate in rituals and seek blessings. Daily aarti and Pitru Karya (ancestor rituals) are performed, with poojas conducted in Hindi and Gujarati.

Pilgrims are encouraged to visit during the winter months (November to February), festival seasons, early mornings between 5 and 8 AM, or during the evening aarti for a spiritually uplifting experience.

The temple observes significant festivals, including the Kartik Purnima Fair in November-December, Chaitra Fair in April-May, and Janmashtami, which attract large gatherings of devotees.

Modest dress code is required: men should wear traditional or casual attire covering shoulders and knees, while women are expected to wear sarees, salwar kameez, or kurtis with leggings.

Reaching Narayan Sarovar Temple involves arriving at Bhuj, the main gateway city, and proceeding northwest via the Bhuj-Nakhatrana road, passing through Nakhatrana and Dayapar before reaching the temple complex.

The nearest railway stations are Naliya (71 km) and Bhuj (152 km), while Bhuj Airport (156 km) and Kandla Airport in Gandhidham (135 km) are the closest airports.

Simple traditional vegetarian prasad and meals are served to pilgrims around midday through temple trusts and a community bhojanalaya.
