Chandod Malhar Rao Ghat Temple

Also known locally as Chanod Ghat, Triveni Sangam Ghat, Chandipur, Dakshini Prayag, and Malhar Rao Ghat, this ancient temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, with Narmada Mataji also worshipped here.

The temple stands out for its historical significance from the Maratha period, having been built by Malharrao Gaekwad and the Maratha royal administration, and is currently managed by a panchayat or local trust.

Pilgrims are drawn to Chandod Malhar Rao Ghat Temple for its spiritual ambiance on the banks of the sacred Narmada River, especially at the Triveni Sangam—just 0.5 km away—where three rivers converge.

The temple is open for darshan from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, though it may close between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. The ghat itself remains accessible 24 hours a day.

Entry for darshan is free, and devotees are encouraged to follow the dress code: men should wear modest traditional or casual attire such as full-length trousers and shirts or kurtas, while women are advised to wear sarees, salwar kameez, or long churidar with a dupatta, avoiding shorts, sleeveless tops, or revealing western wear.

A variety of significant poojas are performed at the temple, including Tarpan/Shradh Puja, Rudrabhishek/Laghu Rudrabhishek, Pitru Dosh Nivaran Puja, Kaal Sarp Dosh Puja, and Narayana Bali Puja. Most rituals are conducted between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM, and are available in Sanskrit and Hindi.

The temple is especially vibrant during Pitru Paksha/Mahalaya Amavasya (September–October), Maha Shivratri (February–March), and Kartik Purnima & Dev-Diwali (November).

Prasadam, comprising sacred sweets, dry fruits, flowers, and holy items, is distributed after rituals, and annadanam is organized by local trusts and dharamshalas during auspicious days.
