About

Kirti Mandir Vadodara, also known as the Temple of Fame, stands as a significant pilgrimage centre and royal temple in the heart of Vadodara, Gujarat.

Revered for its devotion to Lord Shiva, with an additional shrine for Dattatreya, this ancient temple is a notable landmark built during the British colonial era by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III of the Gaekwad dynasty.

The temple’s heritage status as a state-recognized monument adds to its cultural and spiritual importance. Located on Kothi Road, Dak Bunglaw, Sayajiganj, Kirti Mandir is easily accessible from the city’s central hubs.

Pilgrims and visitors can reach the temple by heading toward the Vishwamitri Bridge, where the temple stands prominently near the bridge on Kothi Road. Local auto-rickshaws or cabs are convenient options for reaching the front gate.

Vadodara Junction Railway Station is just 1.5 km away, and Pratap Nagar Railway Station is 5.3 km from the temple. For those arriving by air, Vadodara International Airport (BDQ) is 6 km away, while Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad is approximately 115 km distant.

Kirti Mandir welcomes devotees daily, with darshan timings from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Entry for darshan is free, and rituals are conducted in Gujarati and Sanskrit.

The temple observes special significance during Diwali in November and Mahashivratri in February, making these periods particularly vibrant for worshippers. The best time to visit is during the winter months from November to February, especially in the morning hours between 8 AM and 12 PM.

Visitors are expected to follow a modest dress code: men should wear casual-formal or traditional Indian attire, avoiding shorts, while women are encouraged to dress conservatively in sarees, salwar kameez, or long skirts and tops.

While there is no formal prasadam or annadanam, guests may bring their own offerings. Parking is convenient, with free spaces available on the premises or street side, and there is basic mobility access, though some steps are present inside.

Photography is permitted on the outer lawns and open areas, but permission is required for photos inside the main halls, and commercial photography or tripods need prior authorization.

For accommodation, several options are nearby, including Sayaji Vadodara (0.5 km), Lords Inn Vadodara (0.4 km), and budget hotels near Vadodara Junction (1.5–2 km).

The temple’s location also places it close to popular attractions such as Laxmi Vilas Palace, Sursagar Lake, Sayaji Baug & Baroda Museum, Surya Narayan Temple, Tambekar Wada, and EME Temple, making Kirti Mandir Vadodara an essential stop for both spiritual seekers and heritage enthusiasts.
