About

Karnali Kubereshwar Mahadev Temple, also known locally as Kuber Bhandari Temple or Shree Kubereshwar Mahadev Mandir, is a revered Hindu pilgrimage centre situated on the scenic riverbank of Karnali-Chandod in Vadodara district, Gujarat.

Dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, the temple also houses shrines for Goddess Mahakali and Maa Amba, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking darshan and blessings from multiple deities.

The temple stands as an ancient site with major patronage and rebuilding attributed to the Maratha/Gaekwad era, and its origins are linked to antiquity. Its architecture follows the classic Nagara (North Indian) style, and the temple is recognized as a living heritage site managed by a local trust.

The serene setting along the riverbank enhances the spiritual experience, drawing pilgrims and visitors throughout the year. Karnali Kubereshwar Mahadev Temple is open daily from 5:30 AM to 8:00 PM, with extended timings on Amavasya (12:00 AM – 10:00 PM) and Maha Shivratri (4:00 AM – 10:00 PM).

The best times to visit are early mornings, during evening aarti, in the winter months (November to February), or during the vibrant festival season.

The temple celebrates major festivals such as Amavasya (New Moon Days), Somvati Amavasya, Maha Shivaratri, Shravan Month, Dhanteras, Diwali, and Purnima, attracting large gatherings of devotees.

Darshan at the temple is accessible through free entry, as well as special and VIP darshan options for a fee of ₹250.

Various poojas are performed in Gujarati and Sanskrit, including Bilva Patra Puja (with 11, 51, or 108 leaves), Jal Abhishek Puja, Rudra Abhishek Puja, Pathatmaka Laghurudra Puja, and Abhishekatmaka Laghurudra Puja, with prices ranging from ₹101 to ₹11,000.

To reach the temple, pilgrims can travel from Vadodara towards Dabhoi and then to Chandod/Karnali, or take a ferry from Poicha across the Narmada River. The temple is accessible by climbing 50–100 stone steps from the river level.

Chandod Railway Station is the nearest railhead (8 km), while Vadodara Junction (60 km) and Vadodara Airport (61 km) are the closest major transport hubs. Parking is free and ample, with some wheelchair support available, though steps are required to reach the main sanctum.

Accommodation options include Shiv Krupa Dharamshala opposite the temple, Reva Homestay within 500 meters, and hotels in Vadodara city for those seeking higher-end facilities. Pilgrims can also enjoy traditional prasadam and annadanam, especially during festivals and Amavasya.

Photography is allowed in the outer courtyards and riverbank areas but restricted inside the inner sanctum. For more information, online darshan, or to plan your visit, refer to the official website or contact the temple directly.

The temple’s proximity to attractions like Chandod (Triveni Sangam), Neelkanth Dham (Poicha), Kabirwad, and the Statue of Unity adds further appeal for travelers and devotees alike.
