Madhukeshwara Temple Banavasi

Also known locally as Madhukeshwara Devastana or Banavasi Temple, this site is dedicated to Lord Shiva as the primary deity, with sanctums for Goddess Parvati (Mahishamardhini), Lord Ganesha, Shantha Narasimha, Yama, and Varuna.

The temple’s mixed and renovated architectural style reflects contributions from the Kadamba Dynasty, attributed to Mayura Varma, and later additions by the Chalukyas and Sonda rulers.

The temple is just 800 meters from the Banavasi Bus Stand, accessible by local auto-rickshaws. Nearest railway stations include Talguppa (55 km), Haveri (70 km), and Kumta (70 km), while the closest airports are Hubballi (140 km), Belagavi (180 km), and Mangaluru (240 km).

Parking is available at the temple complex. For devotees, free Anna Prasada (lunch) is served between 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM, and sacred prasadam is distributed after daily rituals.
