About

Madana Gopala Swamy Temple Jatprole, also known locally as Sri Madana Venugopala Swamy Temple and Venu Gopala Swamy Temple, is a revered ancient temple and pilgrimage centre located in Jatprole, Nagarkurnool district, Telangana.

This temple, sometimes referred to as Jatayuvu Kshetra, is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, worshipped here as Madana Gopala Swamy, with his consorts Rukmini and Satyabhama also enshrined within the sanctum.

The temple stands as a significant heritage site from the Vijayanagara period and was built by the Rajas of Jetprole (Jataprolu Samsthana). Its architectural and spiritual heritage has earned it recognition as a state heritage monument, drawing devotees and history enthusiasts alike.

The temple’s tranquil ambiance and historical aura make it a sought-after destination for spiritual seekers and pilgrims in Telangana. Devotees can visit the temple during its regular timings: 07:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 04:00 PM to 07:30 PM.

The best time to visit is during the winter months (November to February), during festival seasons, or for morning darshan between 8 AM and 12 PM, and during the evening aarti.

The temple observes a traditional dress code: men are advised to wear a dhoti/pancha or neatly worn casual trousers and shirts, while women should opt for sarees, salwar kameez, or other traditional modest ethnic wear. Madana Gopala Swamy Temple offers free darshan to all visitors.

Daily poojas include Suprabhatam, Nitya Archana, and Harathi, conducted in Telugu and Sanskrit, enriching the devotional experience.

The temple is particularly vibrant during major festivals such as Brahmotsavam (January-February, Magha Masam), Gokulashtami/Sri Krishna Janmashtami (August-September, Bhadrapada Masam), and Vaikunta Ekadasi (December-January, Margashira/Dhanurmasa), when special rituals and celebrations take place.

Prasadam, including Saddhi, Pulihora, and sweet items, is distributed to devotees on festival days and during peak hours, while mass Annadanam is organized during Brahmotsavam and other major festivals, fostering a sense of community and devotion.

For accessibility, the temple provides open space and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot for cars and two-wheelers near the complex, though some inner sanctum areas may require physical assistance due to traditional steps.

Casual photography is permitted in the outer premises, while professional shoots inside require a nominal fee, and video recording during rituals is restricted.

Madana Gopala Swamy Temple Jatprole stands as a beacon of devotion, heritage, and community, offering a spiritually enriching experience for all who visit.
