Mallela Theertham Shiva Temple

Revered as an ancient riverbank temple, it is dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, with additional shrines for Lord Ganesha, Lord Dattatreya, and Goddess Durga.

The temple, also locally known as Mallela Theertham Temple, offers a tranquil spiritual experience amidst lush greenery and the soothing sounds of a cascading waterfall.

The temple is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, inviting devotees and nature lovers to seek darshan in a peaceful forest setting. Free darshan is available to all visitors, and poojas are conducted in Telugu and Sanskrit.

Maha Shivaratri, celebrated in February or March, is a significant festival here, drawing pilgrims seeking blessings from Lord Shiva.

Visitors are encouraged to dress modestly, with men advised to wear traditional or conservative attire such as dhotis, lungis, or comfortable trousers and shirts, while women should opt for sarees, salwar kameez, or other modest ethnic wear.

There is no official prasadam or annadanam at the temple, so devotees typically bring their own offerings and food. Reaching Mallela Theertham Shiva Temple involves a scenic journey.

From Hyderabad, take the Srisailam Highway (NH 765) for about 140 km to Mannanur forest checkpost, then continue 30 km to Vatuvarlapalli village. After turning off the main highway, a forest road leads 8–10 km to the designated parking area.

From there, visitors must descend 250–350 stone steps through the forest to reach the shrine, making the site inaccessible for wheelchairs or those with mobility issues. A nominal parking fee is charged.

The nearest railway stations are Markapur Road (84 km), Mahabubnagar (130 km), and Kurnool City (130 km). For air travel, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad is about 145 km away, while Vijayawada International Airport is 290 km distant.
