Sri Bhadrakali Temple Warangal

Revered as a prominent pilgrimage centre and an ancient temple, this sacred site is dedicated to Goddess Shakti, worshipped locally as Bhadrakali Ammavaru or Ammavaru.

The temple also houses shrines for other deities, including Lord Shiva, Subramanya Swamy, Hanuman, Navagraha, and Vigneshwara, making it a spiritually significant destination for devotees seeking blessings from multiple divine forms.

The temple’s architecture reflects the grandeur of the Chalukya style, with its origins attributed to King Pulakeshin II of the Chalukya dynasty and later prominence under the Kakatiya kings.

Sri Bhadrakali Temple offers free darshan for devotees. The temple is open daily from 5:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with a break from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The best time to visit is early morning or during the winter months (November–February) and the vibrant festival season.

Traditional attire is recommended for both men (dhotis or trousers/pants with shirts) and women (sarees, churidars, or salwar kameez).

A variety of poojas are performed in Sanskrit and Telugu, including Alankara Darshan, Sarva Darshan, Maha Mangala Aarti (midday), Abhishekam (₹500), Sahasranama Pooja (₹200), Thiruvilakku Pooja (₹100), and Pournami Yagapoojai (₹17,000).

Traditional prasadam is distributed, and free annaprasadam is served daily between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 50–100 devotees. Reaching the temple is convenient: from Hyderabad, take NH163 towards Warangal/Hanamkonda (140–150 km, 3–4 hours).

From Warangal city, it is 5–6 km towards Hanamkonda, accessible by city bus, auto-rickshaw, or taxi. Parking is available at the base of the hill, with stone steps leading to the temple.

The nearest railway stations are Warangal (5 km) and Kazipet (10 km); the closest airports are Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad (157 km), and Vijayawada Airport (200 km).
