About

Maa Sharda Devi Temple, also known locally as Maihar Mata Temple, Maihar Devi Temple, or Sharda Mai, is a revered Shakti Peetha and pilgrimage centre situated atop the scenic Trikuta Hill in Maihar, Satna district, Uttar Pradesh.

Dedicated primarily to Goddess Shakti, this ancient temple also houses a shrine for Lord Narsingh (Narasimha).

The temple’s mixed and renovated architectural style reflects its long-standing significance and the patronage it has received from the Kalachuri and Baghel dynasties, though its exact historical period remains unknown.

Pilgrims and devotees visit Maa Sharda Devi Temple throughout the year, with the best time to visit being during the winter months from November to February, especially in the early morning hours between 5 AM and 12 PM.

The temple is open daily from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM, though timings may vary by season. Traditional and formal attire is recommended for both men and women visiting the temple.

Darshan at the temple is accessible through multiple entry types, including free darshan, special darshan, and VIP darshan options. The temple conducts poojas in Hindi, with Mangala Aarti held from 4:00 AM to 5:00 AM and Sandhya Aarti from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Devotees can also receive prasadam such as coconut and sweets, and partake in free food (Annadanam) at Mai ki Rasoi located near the base of the hill. Reaching the temple is convenient via Maihar town, which is well-connected by train and road to Satna, Jabalpur, and Rewa.

From Maihar Railway Station (just 3 km away), visitors can take an auto-rickshaw or taxi to the base of Trikuta Hill. The ascent to the temple can be made by climbing 1,063 steps or by using the Maihar Ropeway, with parking available near the ropeway station.

Nearby attractions include Alha Deo Mandir & Akhara, Gola Math Temple, Alha Pond, and Nainwara Temple, offering additional spiritual and cultural experiences.

Accommodation options are available at MPT Maihar Hotel, Yatri Niwas/Trust Lodges, and various private hotels near the railway station and city. Photography is allowed in many areas of the temple complex, though it is prohibited inside the main shrine (Garbhagriha).

For those unable to visit in person, online darshan is available at https://maashardalive.com. For more information, the official website is https://maihar.nic.in/en/history/ and contact can be made at 7828570775.
