Kunjapuri Devi Temple

This ancient temple, dedicated primarily to Goddess Shakti (Amman), also houses a shrine for Lord Shiva. The temple is a significant destination for devotees seeking darshan and spiritual solace, especially during the auspicious festival seasons.

The temple’s architecture follows the Nagara (North Indian) style, and its hilltop location offers panoramic views, making it a popular spot for early morning visits.

Many pilgrims and tourists are drawn to the temple at sunrise, which is considered the best time to visit, especially between 5:00 AM and 8:00 AM. The temple is open daily from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM, allowing ample time for devotees to participate in rituals and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

Kunjapuri Devi Temple is accessible by road, with the journey typically starting from Rishikesh or Narendra Nagar. Pilgrims can drive via the Rishikesh-Chamba Highway (NH 34) towards Narendra Nagar and Hindolakhal, then take a diversion up to the temple area.

Designated paid parking is available near the summit, from where visitors must climb approximately 150–200 steep stone steps to reach the main sanctum. Please note that there is no wheelchair access to the summit.

Darshan at the temple is free, and devotees can participate in general darshan and archana or opt for special poojas such as personalized sankalpa and havan. Rituals are conducted in Sanskrit and Hindi.

During major festivals like Chaitra Navratri (March-April), Shardiya Navratri (September-October), and Dussehra (Vijayadashami in October), the temple sees a surge in visitors, and community food (bhandara) is organized.

Traditional dry prasad, including mishri, dry fruits, sweets, and flowers, is distributed after prayers. For those planning a visit, the nearest railway stations are Rishikesh (27 km) and Haridwar (50 km), while Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is about 35 km away.
