Kollur Mookambika Temple

Recognized as a prominent Shakti Peetha and an ancient temple, this sacred site draws devotees from across India who seek the blessings of Goddess Shakti (Amman), the temple’s primary deity.

The sanctum also houses shrines for Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Lord Subrahmanya, Goddess Saraswati, Lord Vishnu, Lord Brahma, and Adi Shankaracharya, making it a significant destination for worshippers of various Hindu traditions.

The temple’s architecture reflects a mixed and renovated style, bearing traces of its long history, though its exact origins remain unknown or disputed. It is associated with King Veera Sangayya and has connections to Adi Shankaracharya and the Keladi Nayakas.

Kollur Mookambika Temple is recognized as a state heritage site, further highlighting its cultural and spiritual significance. Devotees can visit the temple between 5:00 AM and 1:30 PM, and again from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Early mornings (5–8 AM) and the winter months from November to February are considered the best times for darshan, as well as during major festivals such as Navaratri (Sharadotsava) in September-October and Brahma Rathotsava in March.

The temple offers free darshan, as well as special and seeghra darshan options for INR 100 and INR 200 respectively.

Poojas are conducted in Kannada and Sanskrit, with rituals such as Nirmalaya Pooja at 5:00 AM, Mahapooja between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM, Pradosha Pooja at 6:30 PM, and various sevas like Chandika Homam, Vada Naivedya, Nai Appam, Pancha Pooja, and Parivara Pooja available for devotees.

Traditional attire is required for entry: men are expected to wear dhoti or veshti and remove upper garments in the inner sanctum, while women should wear sarees, salwar suits, or long skirts, with jeans and short tops not permitted.
