Khandoba Temple Jejuri

Dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, the temple also enshrines Mhalsa and Banai. Perched atop a hill along Jejurigad / Malhargad Road, this temple is a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking darshan and blessings.

The temple is open daily from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with a brief inner sanctum break between 12:30 PM and 1:00/1:30 PM. Devotees can participate in early morning Abhishek pooja at 5:00 AM, as well as Naivedyam Seva and the unique Bhandara (Turmeric Offering), available at ₹50 or ₹100.

Rituals and poojas are conducted in Marathi and Sanskrit, preserving the temple’s traditional spiritual atmosphere. For darshan, visitors can choose from several entry types: free darshan, special darshan at ₹50 or ₹100, and VIP darshan for ₹200.

The temple enforces a strict dress code: men are required to wear traditional Indian attire such as dhotis, kurtas, or full-length trousers with modest shirts, while women should opt for sarees, salwar kameez, or conservative kurtis.

Shorts, ripped jeans, sleeveless tops, and revealing outfits are not permitted. The best time to visit Khandoba Temple Jejuri is during winter (November to February), especially in the morning hours between 5:00 AM and 12:00 PM, or during evening aarti.

Weekdays are generally less crowded, and the temple comes alive during the festival season, including Somvati Amavasya (Bhandara Festival), Champa Shashti, Maghi Purnima Yatra, Navratri, and Dussehra.

Reaching the temple from Pune involves heading southeast towards Hadapsar, taking the Hadapsar-Saswad-Jejuri Road (NH 965) via Saswad and Dive Ghat, and continuing into Jejuri town. From the base, devotees climb 200–350 stone steps to reach the temple.

Parking is available at the base (₹30–₹200), with a motorable road for senior citizens and differently-abled visitors (ID required), and doli (palanquin) service. Wheelchair access is limited. Jejuri Railway Station is just 5 km away, while Pune Junction is 48 km from the temple.

Pune International Airport (54 km) and Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (238 km) are the nearest airports.
