Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga Temple

The temple is nestled amidst the scenic Sahyadri hills and showcases the Nagara (North Indian) style of architecture, with its origins tracing back to the Chola period.

The early structure's builder remains anonymous, but significant additions such as the court hall were made by Chimaji Antanji Nayik Bhinde in 1437 AD, while the Sabhamandap and Shikhara were constructed by Nana Phadnavis in the 18th century.

The temple has also received endowments from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Peshwa rulers.

The main deity worshipped here is Lord Shiva, and the temple also houses shrines for Goddess Kamalaja, Shaakini, Daakini, Lord Ganesha, Lord Shanishwara, Lord Krishna, Lord Hanuman, and Mahishasura Mardini.
