About

Chaturshringi Temple, also known locally as Chattushrungi Mandir, Ambareshwari Temple, and Shri Devi Chaturshringi, is a revered Hindu pilgrimage centre situated on Senapati Bapat Road in Pune, Maharashtra.

Dedicated primarily to Goddess Shakti (Amman), the temple also houses shrines for Goddess Durga, Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Saraswati, and Ashtavinayaka, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking darshan of multiple deities.

This ancient hill temple, built during the Maratha period by Durlabhsheth Pitambardas Mahajan, stands as an important landmark in Pune. The temple is managed by a local trust and has retained its traditional charm while accommodating thousands of pilgrims each year.

Visitors can experience the serene atmosphere atop the hill, accessible by climbing approximately 100 steps from the main gate, with handrails and resting areas provided for convenience and accessibility.

Chaturshringi Temple is open for darshan on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and on Tuesday and Friday from 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Free darshan is available to all devotees.

The temple is especially vibrant during festivals such as Navratri (September–October), Dussehra (October), Vat Purnima (May–June), Ganesh Chaturthi (September), Diwali (October–November), and Holi (March), when special poojas and community meals (bhandara) are organized.

Traditional dry or fruit prasadam is distributed after the aartis. Daily poojas include the Morning Aarti from 10:00 AM to 10:15 AM and the Evening Aarti from 8:00 PM to 8:15 PM, along with Abhisheka, Archana, and Navchandi Homam.

Rituals are conducted in Marathi and Sanskrit, preserving the temple’s cultural heritage.

Devotees are required to follow a modest dress code: men should wear traditional or formal casual attire, avoiding shorts or sleeveless clothing, while women are expected to wear sarees, salwar kameez, or respectable kurtis. Reaching Chaturshringi Temple is convenient from Pune city.

Local buses connect to Shivaji Housing Society or Range Hills Corner, both a short walk from the temple base. Auto-rickshaws and cabs are readily available, with the temple located near JW Marriott on SB Road.

The nearest railway stations are Shivajinagar (4 km) and Pune Junction (6.5 km), while Pune International Airport is 13 km away. For accommodation, several hotels such as JW Marriott Pune, The Ambassador Hotel Pune, and Pride Premier Pune are located nearby.

Photography is strictly prohibited near the main sanctum and inner shrines, though it is generally tolerated in the outer premises. Paid parking is available near the entrance.

The temple’s proximity to attractions like Pataleshwar Cave Temples, Fergusson College, Shaniwar Wada, and Aga Khan Palace makes it an ideal spiritual and cultural stop in Pune. For inquiries, visitors can contact the temple at +91 (020) 25639032.
