Kedar Gouri Temple

Revered for its Kalinga architectural style and state heritage status, this temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, with sanctums also devoted to Goddess Parvati, Lord Hanuman, Lord Ganesha, and Goddess Durga.

Its proximity to other iconic temples such as Mukteswara Temple (just 0.1 km away), Lingaraj Temple (1 km), Rajarani Temple (1.5 km), and the tranquil Bindu Sagar Lake (1.2 km) makes it a central destination for spiritual seekers and heritage enthusiasts alike.

The temple welcomes devotees daily from 6:30 AM to 8:00 PM. Visitors can participate in various poojas, including the Morning Aarti (6:30 AM – 7:00 AM), Midday Bhog & Puja (11:30 AM – 12:00 PM), and Evening Aarti (6:30 PM – 7:30 PM), conducted in Odia and Sanskrit.

Free darshan is available for all, providing an accessible spiritual experience. Ritualistic bhog, such as sweet rice, dry fruits, or sugar-crisps (khuda), is distributed after aartis, and community food distribution is organized during major festivals.

Kedar Gouri Temple is particularly vibrant during festivals like Sitalasasthi (May–June), Maha Shivaratri (February–March), and Karthika Purnima (November–December).

The best times to visit are during the winter months (November to February), in the morning (8 AM–12 PM), during evening aarti, or throughout the festival season for a truly immersive experience.

The temple upholds a modest dress code: men are encouraged to wear traditional or conservative attire such as dhoti, kurta, or full-length trousers with a shirt, while women should opt for sarees, salwar kameez, or conservative kurtis.

Shorts, sleeveless, revealing, or tight-fitting garments are discouraged to maintain the sanctity of the premises. Reaching the temple is convenient. Bhubaneswar Railway Station (BBS) is just 3 km away, and Biju Patnaik International Airport (BBI) is approximately 4.5 km from the site.

Visitors can arrive in Bhubaneswar by air, train, or road, head to Old Town via Lewis Road or Tankapani Road, and use local auto-rickshaws, cycle rickshaws, or cabs to reach the temple gates.

Parking is limited to roadside spaces and small open areas, and the approach may be moderately restrictive for wheelchair users due to uneven steps and stone pathways.

For accommodation, options range from budget guesthouses and lodges within a 2-3 km radius to mid-range hotels like Swosti Grand (~4 km) and luxury stays such as Mayfair Lagoon (~7-8 km).

Photography is strictly prohibited inside the main shrine and near the deities, but casual photos of the outer architecture and sacred pool are generally allowed—visitors should check for signage or consult temple attendants before using professional cameras.
