About

Kalyani Devi Temple, also known by names such as Kalyani Devi Shaktipeeth Mandir, Mahashakti Siddhpeeth, Lalita Devi, Prayag Peetheshwari, and Lalita Peeth, is a revered Shakti Peetha and ancient pilgrimage centre located in Attarsuiya, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

This temple is dedicated to Goddess Shakti (Amman) and is an important spiritual destination for devotees seeking blessings and darshan in the city.

The temple also houses shrines for other deities including Chinnamasta Devi, Shankar-Parvati, Kalyaneshwar Mahadev (Shiva), Bhairav, Rama, Lakshman, Sita, and Radha-Krishna, making it a multifaceted centre of worship.

The present structure of Kalyani Devi Temple was built in 1883, but the idols are believed to be around 1500 years old, giving the temple a unique blend of modern and ancient significance.

The architecture follows the Nagara (North Indian) style, and the temple is recognized as a living heritage temple in the region. Kalyani Devi Temple is open to devotees from 5:30 AM to 10:30 PM, allowing ample time for darshan and participation in various rituals.

The best times to visit are early mornings, during the morning hours, evening aarti, as well as in the winter months from November to February and during the festival season.

There is no official strict dress code, but both men and women are advised to wear conservative attire covering shoulders and knees. The temple offers free darshan to all visitors. Daily pooja rituals are conducted, and special pujas are organized during Navratri and Sheetla Ashtami.

The Navratri Special Puja is held from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Navratri days, and prayers are conducted in Sanskrit and Hindi. Major festivals celebrated here include Chaitra Navratri (March-April), Ashwin Navratri (September-October), and Sheetla Ashtami (March).

During these times, large-scale annadanam (bhandara) is organized, and prasadam typically includes flowers, fruits, and sweets. Reaching Kalyani Devi Temple is convenient from various parts of Prayagraj.

From Prayagraj Junction railway station (2.5 km away), auto-rickshaws or cabs can take you directly to Attarsuiya or Kalyani Devi Road. Local transport options such as auto, cycle, and e-rickshaws are readily available from major city points.

The temple is also accessible from Prayagraj Rambagh (3.5 km) and Prayagraj Chheoki (9 km) railway stations, with Prayagraj Airport (13.5 km) being the nearest airport.

Accommodation options are plentiful, with numerous dharamshalas and hotels in Attarsuiya, Kydganj, and Civil Lines, catering to all budgets.

Nearby attractions include Shri Bade Hanuman Ji Mandir, Sangam Ghat, Alop Shankari Devi Shakti Peeth Mandir, Shri Mankameshwar Mahadev Mandir, and Khusro Bagh, making this area a vibrant spiritual and cultural hub.

Parking is limited due to the temple’s location in a narrow, crowded lane, so using local transport is recommended. Photography inside the main sanctum is generally restricted, so it is best to check with priests or security before taking photos.
