Kachnar City Shiva Temple

This modern temple, built through the initiative of local community figures such as Arun Tiwari, began construction around 2001 and opened to the public in 2006.

The temple is renowned for its towering 76-foot statue of Lord Shiva, which is visible from a distance and serves as a significant spiritual and visual landmark in the city.

Devotees visiting the Kachnar City Shiva Temple can offer prayers to the primary deity, Lord Shiva, and also pay respects to other deities such as Lord Ganesha, the Saptarishis, Nandi, and the 12 Jyotirlinga replicas housed within the temple’s underground cavern.

The temple’s daily rituals include the Morning Aarti at 7:00 AM and the Evening Aarti at 7:00 PM, conducted in Hindi and Sanskrit. Darshan is free for all visitors, and prasadam such as dry sugar (misri), fruit, or traditional sweets is distributed after the evening aarti.

During major festivals like Maha Shivratri, community food distributions (bhandara) are occasionally organized. The temple is open daily from 7:00 AM to 8:30 or 9:00 PM, making it convenient for pilgrims to plan their visit.

The best times to visit are during the winter months (November to February), early mornings between 5:00 and 8:00 AM, during evening aarti, or in the festival season.

Major festivals celebrated here include Maha Shivratri (February–March), Shravan (Sawan) Month (July–August), and Makar Sankranti (January).

Visitors are expected to adhere to a modest dress code: men should wear full-length trousers or dhoti/kurta, and women are encouraged to dress conservatively in sarees, salwar kameez, or kurtis with covered legs and shoulders. Footwear must be left at designated counters near the entrance.

Reaching the temple is straightforward: from Jabalpur City Center, head towards Vijay Nagar, reach Ahinsa Chowk, and turn onto Kachnar City Road toward Kanchan Vihar. The temple, with its grand Shiva statue, will be visible on the right.

Jabalpur Junction (8 km) and Madan Mahal Railway Station (9 km) are the nearest railway stations, while Dumna Airport is about 20 km away. Parking is available near the temple gates, and the gardens and outer pathways are moderately accessible.
