Chausath Yogini Temple Bhedaghat

Recognized as an ASI protected monument, this hill temple is a significant pilgrimage centre, attracting devotees and history enthusiasts alike.

The temple is attributed to the Kalachuri dynasty, possibly built by Yuvrajadeva I in the 10th century CE, though its exact historical period remains disputed.

The temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, with Goddess Parvati, 64 Yoginis, Ganesha, Vainayaki, Bhairava, and Hanuman also enshrined within its premises.

Its unique architecture and sacred ambiance make it a sought-after destination for those seeking spiritual solace and a glimpse into India’s ancient heritage. Chausath Yogini Temple Bhedaghat welcomes visitors daily from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, roughly from sunrise to sunset.

The best time to visit is during the winter months (November to February), the monsoon season (June to September), early mornings between 5–8 AM, or during the evening aarti. Entry for darshan is free, allowing devotees to experience the temple’s spiritual atmosphere without any charge.

Poojas and rituals are conducted in Sanskrit and Hindi, especially during major festivals such as Maha Shivaratri (February–March), Navaratri in both Chaitra and Sharad (March–April and September–October), and on full moon (Purnima) nights throughout the year.

Visitors are advised to adhere to the temple’s dress code: men should wear traditional or modest casual wear such as full-length trousers and shirts, while women are expected to dress conservatively in sarees, salwar kameez, or kurtis/jeans with covered shoulders and legs.

There is no official prasadam or annadanam, but devotees may bring their own offerings. Reaching the temple is convenient from Jabalpur city, which is well-connected by rail, air, and road. From Jabalpur, Bhedaghat is about 21–25 km away and can be accessed by taxi, auto-rickshaw, or public bus.

The nearest railway stations are Jabalpur Junction (21 km) and Bhedaghat Station (4 km), while Jabalpur Airport (Dumna Airport) is 34 km away. Free parking is available near the base, and the temple is accessed by climbing approximately 100–150 stone steps or using an inclined path.

While not wheelchair accessible, rest benches and an inclined path are provided for those with minor mobility issues. Photography is allowed in open courtyards and for landscape views, though restrictions apply near sensitive sanctum areas.
