About

Jogulamba Temple Alampur (Shakti Peeth) is a revered pilgrimage destination located in Alampur, Jogulamba Gadwal district, Telangana.

Recognized as one of the prominent Shakti Peethas, this ancient temple stands on the banks of the Tungabhadra River and is celebrated for its Dravidian architecture and spiritual significance.

The temple is also known locally as Yogula Amma and Dakshina Kailasam, reflecting its deep-rooted cultural and religious importance in the region.

The presiding deity at Jogulamba Temple is Goddess Shakti (Amman), and the sanctum is also home to other deities such as Bala Brahmeswara Swamy (Lord Shiva), Saptamatrikas, Vighneswara (Ganesha), Veenapani Veerabhadra, Yoga/Ugra Narasimha Swamy, and Parvathi Mata.

The temple complex is an ASI-protected monument, originally built by the Badami Chalukyas with later enhancements by the Vijayanagara Empire under Harihara Raya II. Pilgrims can visit the temple from Monday to Sunday between 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM, and again from 2:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

The best time to visit is during the winter months (November to February), especially in the mornings between 5 AM and 12 PM for a serene darshan experience.

The temple enforces a traditional dress code: men are expected to wear dhoti and kurta or formal attire, while women should opt for saree, salwar kameez, or churidar with dupatta. Western or revealing outfits are not permitted inside the sanctum.

Darshan options include free darshan, special darshan (INR 100), VIP darshan, and Seeghra darshan.

Devotees can participate in various poojas such as Kumkum Archana (INR 50), Sahasra Namarchana (INR 216), Trisathi Archana (INR 300), Khadgamala (INR 200), and Chandi Homam (INR 750), with rituals conducted in Telugu and Sanskrit.

Regular Annadanam is organized, and prasadam like kumkum, holy ash, and food items are distributed to pilgrims. Major festivals celebrated here include Sharad Navaratri & Vijayadashami (September–October), Maha Shivaratri (February–March), and Kalyanotsavam (special calendar events).

The temple is easily accessible: by air via Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (Hyderabad, 204 km away), by train to Alampur Road Station (9 km), and by road from Hyderabad, Kurnool, and Mahbubnagar.

Haritha Hotel Alampur (400–600m from the temple), temple choultries, and guest houses provide accommodation, with additional options in Kurnool. Nearby attractions include the Navabrahma Temples, Sangameshwara Temple, Alampur Archaeological Museum, Papanasi Temples, and Tungabhadra Pushkar Ghat.

Designated parking, wheelchair accessibility, and clear photography guidelines ensure a comfortable visit for all devotees. For more details, visit the official website or contact the temple directly.
