Huligemma Devi Temple

This ancient temple, built in the distinctive Dravidian architectural style by the Kalyana Chalukyas, possibly during the reign of Vikramaditya VI (11th–13th century), stands as a living heritage temple and a significant pilgrimage centre in the region.

The temple is dedicated primarily to Goddess Shakti/Amman, with shrines for other deities such as Shiva (Someshwara Temple), various forms of Shakti, and Renuka Yellamma Devi.

Pilgrims and devotees can partake in a range of poojas including Abhisheka, Archana, Navami Ratha Utsava, Dashami Balihandi & Shibike Seva, and Ekadashi Brahmi Muhurta offerings. Rituals are conducted in Kannada, Hindi, and Telugu, catering to devotees from different linguistic backgrounds.

Darshan at Huligemma Devi Temple is available in both free and special categories, allowing visitors to choose their preferred experience. The temple is open for darshan from 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM and again from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

The best times to visit are early mornings (5–8 AM), during the evening aarti, in the winter months (November to February), or during the vibrant festival season, especially the annual brahmotsavam.

Major festivals celebrated here include the Annual Jatre (Chariot Festival) in Vaishaka (May), Navaratri in September-October, and weekly special days on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Purnima. Devotees are expected to wear modest and respectful attire, with shoulders and knees covered.
