About

Geeta Vatika Gorakhpur, also known locally as Geeta Vatika, Radha Krishna Sadhna Mandir, or Gita Vatika, is a revered pilgrimage centre and ashram temple located on Shahpur / Pipraich Road in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Dedicated primarily to Lord Krishna, the temple also houses sanctums for Radha, Shri Sitaram, Shri Shankar Parvati, Shri Ganesh ji, Shri Hanuman ji, Lord Suryadev, Mother Durga, Lord Vishnu-Lakshmi, Maa Tripura Sundari, Ram Darbar, Saraswatiji, and Kartikeya ji, making it a spiritually vibrant destination for devotees seeking darshan of multiple deities.

The temple is built in the Nagara (North Indian) architectural style and is recognized as a living heritage temple. Established in the modern period by Hanuman Prasad Poddar, Geeta Vatika stands as a serene space for spiritual reflection and devotion.

The temple is well-known for its continuous Hari Sankirtan, with daily poojas including a Morning Aarti from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM and an Evening Aarti from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, conducted in Hindi and Sanskrit.

Devotees can enjoy free darshan during the temple’s open hours, which are from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, every day of the week. Visitors are encouraged to dress modestly and traditionally, though there is no strict official dress code for men or women.

Photography is not permitted inside the main temple area, preserving the sanctity of the space. After the Aarti, prasadam—often milk sweets—is distributed, though annadanam is not provided as a daily free service for all visitors.

Geeta Vatika celebrates major Hindu festivals such as Radha Ashtami and Janmashtami (August-September), Holi (March), and Diwali (October-November), drawing pilgrims especially during these auspicious times.

The best time to visit is early morning (5–8 AM), during evening aarti, or in the winter months from November to February. Reaching Geeta Vatika is convenient, with Gorakhpur Junction Railway Station just 3 km away and Gorakhpur Airport about 8.6 km distant.

Taxis and auto-rickshaws are readily available from both locations, with clear directions via Asuran Chowk and Pipraich Road. Parking is available near Asuran Chowk and in nearby areas, though dedicated parking within the premises is limited.

Accommodation options include several budget and mid-range hotels near Asuran Chowk and Gorakhpur Railway Station, within a 3–5 km radius of the temple.

Nearby attractions for pilgrims and tourists include Gorakhnath Temple, Gita Press, Kusumhi Vinod Van, Premchand Park, and Nehru Entertainment Park. For more information, visitors can refer to the official website or contact the temple directly at +91-8853145452.
