Bhattarika Temple

This ancient pilgrimage centre is dedicated to Goddess Shakti (Amman), drawing devotees seeking spiritual solace and blessings. The temple stands as a prominent example of Kalinga architecture and holds the distinction of being recognized as a state heritage site.

It was built by the rulers of the ex-princely state of Baramba, notably under Padmanabha Deva, reflecting the region’s rich cultural legacy.

The temple is open for darshan from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM and again from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with early mornings (5–8 AM), winter months (November to February), and the festive season being the best times to visit.

Entry for darshan is free, allowing all devotees to participate in the spiritual ambiance without any fee.

The temple observes a traditional dress code: men are expected to wear dhoti-kurta or full-length trousers with a clean shirt, while women should opt for saree, salwar kameez, or other traditional Indian attire.

Daily poojas at Bhattarika Temple include Alati (Aarti), Shodashopachara Puja, and floral or lamp offerings, conducted in Sanskrit and Odia.

The temple comes alive during major festivals such as Makar Sankranti in January, Pana Sankranti (Maha Vishuba Sankranti) in April, Akshaya Tritiya in May, and Dussehra (Durga Puja) in October.
