Bharat Mandir Rishikesh

Dedicated primarily to Lord Vishnu, the temple also enshrines deities such as Lord Varaha, Lord Shiva, Sri Yantra, and Buddha, reflecting its inclusive spiritual significance.

The temple is built in the traditional Nagara (North Indian) architectural style and is recognized as a living heritage temple managed by a local trust.

The temple's original shrine was revived by Adi Shankaracharya in 789 CE, with a major renovation undertaken by Maharaja Yashwant Singh of Nabha State in 1832. Bharat Mandir is a prominent riverbank temple, drawing devotees and pilgrims seeking darshan and spiritual solace.

Darshan at Bharat Mandir is free for all visitors. The temple is open daily from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM and again from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The best time to visit is during the early morning hours (5–8 AM), late mornings, or during the evening aarti, especially in the winter months (November to February) and during festival seasons.

The temple observes major festivals such as Basant Panchami (January-February) and Akshaya Tritiya (April-May), when special annadanam is provided to pilgrims and sadhus. Daily poojas include aarti, archana, and abhishek, conducted in Sanskrit and Hindi.

After the daily aartis, devotees receive prasadam such as misri, dry sweets, and Charan amrit.

The temple maintains a traditional dress code: men are expected to wear full-length trousers, jeans, shirts, or kurtas, while women should opt for modest attire like salwar kameez, sarees, or long kurtas with dupattas. Shorts, mini-skirts, and torn jeans are discouraged.

Reaching Bharat Mandir is convenient. Arrive in Rishikesh via NH 7 or NH 34 from Delhi, Dehradun, or Haridwar, then proceed to Koyal Ghati or Mayakund from the main bus stand. The temple is located on Ghat Road near Triveni Ghat and can be accessed by auto-rickshaw, cycle rickshaw, or taxi.

The nearest railway stations are Rishikesh Railway Station (2 km), Yog Nagari Rishikesh (4 km), and Haridwar Junction (22 km). Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is 20 km away, while Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, is 240 km.

Photography and videography are strictly prohibited inside the main sanctum, though allowed in the outer courtyard and historical displays.
