About

Bhakta Ramadasu Temple Nelakondapalli, also known locally as Ramadasu Mandiram or Sri Bhakta Ramadasa Dhyana Mandiram, is a notable pilgrimage centre and village temple located in the heart of Nelakondapalli, Khammam district, Telangana.

Dedicated primarily to Lord Rama, the temple also houses sanctums for Sita and Lakshmana, along with a memorial statue honoring Bhakta Ramadasu. Its status as a state heritage site reflects its cultural and spiritual significance in the region.

The temple operates daily with darshan timings from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, offering devotees ample opportunity for worship and meditation.

Free darshan is available to all visitors, and the temple is known for poojas such as Archana, Namarchana, and the melodious chanting of Ramadasu Keertanas, conducted in Telugu and Sanskrit.

The serene ambiance of the temple, combined with its focus on devotional music and prayer, makes it a peaceful retreat for spiritual seekers. Festivals are a vibrant part of the temple’s annual calendar.

Sri Ramanavami, celebrated during March–April (Chaitra month), draws devotees from across the region. The Sri Bhakta Ramadasu Memorial Festival, or Aradhana Utsavams, held from April 28 to May 2, is another major event, featuring special poojas and free Annadanam for all participants.

During these occasions, prasadam such as Paramannam, Boondi, and Panakam is distributed, and large-scale Annadanam is organized to serve the visiting pilgrims.

Visitors are encouraged to follow the temple’s dress code: men should wear traditional or modest casual attire (dhoti/kurta or trousers and shirts), while women are advised to opt for sarees, salwar kameez, or other modest ethnic wear.

Shorts and revealing clothes are discouraged, especially within meditation and prayer spaces. Reaching Bhakta Ramadasu Temple is convenient from Khammam city, which is about 21 km away.

Travelers can take PSR Road or Kodad-Khammam Road southwest toward Nelakondapalli, continuing on NH365A directly into the village. Regular autos, taxis, and TSRTC buses are available.

The nearest railway station is Khammam Railway Station (21 km), while Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad is 208 km away. Accommodation options are best found in Khammam city, with hotels like New Swagath Grand and FabHotel Radha Rani Residency.

Basic pilgrim lodging may also be arranged locally through the temple trust. While visiting, devotees can explore nearby attractions such as the Nelakondapalli Buddhist Mahastupa, Virata Raju Dibba and Keechaka Gundam, Khammam Fort, and Stambhadri Narasimha Swamy Temple. Informal open parking is available near the temple, and photography is permitted in outdoor areas, though indoor restrictions may apply.
