About

Stambhadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, also known locally as Stambhadri Gutta or Narasimha Swamy Gutta, is a revered hill temple and ancient pilgrimage centre situated in Khammam, Telangana.

Perched atop a hillock in the heart of Khammam city, the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, with Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Hanuman, and Godadevi (Andal) also worshipped within its sacred precincts.

The unique cave temple architecture and its status as a living heritage site under a panchayat/local trust make it a significant spiritual destination for devotees and tourists alike.

The temple welcomes visitors daily with morning timings from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM and evening darshan from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

The best time to visit is during the morning hours between 8 AM and 12 PM, evening aarti, winter months from November to February, and during the vibrant festival season, especially the annual brahmotsavam.

Major festivals celebrated here include Narasimha Jayanti (Swamy Vari Jayanti) in Vaisakha (May) and Vaikuntha Ekadashi during Margashira/Pausha (December–January), attracting pilgrims from across the region.

Darshan at Stambhadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is accessible to all, with options for free darshan, special darshan (₹50 and ₹150), and VIP darshan. Poojas are conducted in Telugu and Sanskrit, with Archana or Common Pooja available at ₹20 and ₹50.

The Panaka Abhishekam, a special ritual, is performed on Sunday mornings between approximately 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Prasadam such as panakam (sweet jaggery drink), laddu, and pulihora is distributed, and annadanam is organized on festival days or by local donor trusts.

The temple encourages traditional Indian attire for both men and women, with specific dress codes for entering the sanctum. Adequate open space and designated parking areas are available near the foothills.

The temple is accessible by vehicle up to a point, with stone steps leading to the sanctum; special arrangements are in place for elderly and specially-abled visitors. Reaching the temple is convenient from Khammam Railway Station, just 2 km away, and Khammam Bus Station, about 1 km away.

Auto-rickshaws and taxis are readily available, and the temple is centrally located with vehicle-accessible roads and stone steps for pilgrims. Accommodation options are available near the temple and throughout Khammam town.

While photography is prohibited inside the main prayer hall and near the deity, casual photography of the outer premises is generally allowed, subject to local signboards. Nearby, visitors can also explore Khammam Fort, adding to the spiritual and cultural experience. For further information, the temple can be contacted at +91 9010782283.
