About

Baglamukhi Temple Bankhandi, also known locally as Shri Bagalamukhi Mata Temple, Maa Baglamukhi Temple, and Prachin Mandir Mata Shri Baglamukhi Devi, is a revered ancient temple and pilgrimage centre situated in Bankhandi, Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh.

Dedicated to Goddess Shakti, this temple draws devotees seeking blessings and spiritual solace throughout the year. The temple is renowned for its tranquil village setting and the powerful presence of the divine feminine.

Visitors can participate in daily rituals, with the temple opening its doors from 5:30 AM to 11:30 PM, subject to seasonal variations. The day begins with the Chola Rasam (Offering Divine Dress) at 5:00 AM, followed by the Morning Aarti and Darshan.

Special poojas such as Havan and Anushthan are conducted throughout the day on request, with rituals performed in Sanskrit and Hindi. Darshan at Baglamukhi Temple Bankhandi is accessible to all through free entry, making it a welcoming destination for pilgrims.

The best time to visit is during winter months from November to February or in the early morning hours between 5 and 8 AM, when the serene atmosphere enhances the spiritual experience.

The temple observes significant festivals, including Navratri (Chaitra and Sharad) during March–April and September–October, and Baglamukhi Jayanti in April–May, drawing large gatherings of devotees.

During these periods, visitors are advised to plan ahead due to limited parking and increased footfall.

A traditional dress code is observed: men are encouraged to wear modest Indian attire such as kurta, dhoti, trousers, or shirts, with yellow clothing considered auspicious, while shorts and sleeveless shirts are discouraged.

Women should wear conservative traditional outfits like saree, salwar kameez, or kurtis, as western or revealing attire is not permitted. Reaching the temple is convenient via major roadways.

From Chandigarh or Delhi, take NH 154 via Una and Dehra toward Kangra/Dharamshala; Bankhandi lies between Ranital and Dehra Gopipur. From Dharamshala or Kangra, the temple is accessible by local buses or taxis, located about 22–32 km away.

The nearest railway stations are Kangra Mandir (24 km), Una Himachal (65 km), and Pathankot Junction (95 km). For air travelers, Kangra Airport (Gaggal) is just 22 km away, with Chandigarh and Amritsar airports also serving the region.

Accommodation options include Hotel Shri Pitambara Ji adjacent to the temple, guesthouses and dharamshalas in Dehra Gopipur (5 km away), and Himachal Tourism hotels in Kangra and Jawalamukhi.

For those interested in exploring further, nearby attractions include Jawalamukhi Temple, Pong Dam Lake, Kangra Fort, Masroor Rock Cut Temple, and Chamunda Devi Temple. Parking is available in paid lots near the highway and temple approach, though space is limited during festivals.

Photography and mobile usage are strictly prohibited inside the sanctum, but casual photography is permitted in the outer premises with permission. For more information, visit the official website at https://maabaglamukhiofficial.org or contact +91 9816500036.
