Aprameya Swamy Temple Doddamallur

Known locally by several names such as Ambegalu Navaneetha Krishna Temple, Mallur Krishna Temple, Dakshina Ayodhya, and Chatur Veda Mangala Pura, this temple stands as a significant pilgrimage centre for devotees of Lord Vishnu.

The temple, built during the Chola period by Chola Emperor Rajendra Simha and a Chola general named Aprameya, showcases classic Dravidian architecture and draws visitors seeking spiritual solace and darshan.

The presiding deity here is Lord Vishnu, accompanied by other revered deities including Ambegal Navaneetha Krishna, Aravindavalli (Mahalakshmi), Vaikuntha Narayana Swamy, Ramanujacharya, Nammalvar, and Thirumangai Alvar.

Pilgrims are welcomed for free darshan, and the temple is open from 6:00 AM to 1:30 PM and again from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The best time to visit is in the early morning hours between 5 and 8 AM, especially during the winter months from November to February.

The temple is renowned for its unique poojas and rituals. The Benne Alankaram (Butter Decoration) is a special offering performed from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM, where the deity is adorned with butter.

Other significant poojas include Ekanta Seva, Special Pooja for Childless Couples, and Utsava & Wedding ceremonies. Rituals are conducted in both Sanskrit and Kannada, ensuring a traditional and inclusive experience for devotees.

Festivals celebrated at Aprameya Swamy Temple include Brahmotsavam, Sri Krishna Janmashtami (August–September), and Ramanavami (April), drawing large gatherings of devotees.

The temple provides butter (benne) and tulsi leaves as prasadam, and free meals (annadanam) are served on Saturdays around noon. For those planning a visit, the temple is easily accessible via the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway (NH 275).

From Bengaluru, take the expressway towards Mysuru and exit near Channapatna; from Mysuru, follow the highway towards Bengaluru and look for signs to Doddamallur. Ample parking is available near the temple complex.

Many visitors also opt for day trips from Bengaluru or Mysuru. Photography is permitted in the temple courtyard, but not inside the sanctum sanctorum.
