Amrutheshwara Temple Amruthapura is a revered ancient temple and an ASI-protected monument located in the serene town of Amruthapura, Chikkamagaluru district, Karnataka.

Also known locally as Amruteshvara Temple or Amruteshwara Temple, this sacred site is dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva and serves as a significant pilgrimage centre for devotees and history enthusiasts alike.

The temple is renowned for its exquisite Vesara architecture, reflecting the grandeur of the Hoysala era, as it was built by Amrutheshwara Dandanayaka under the patronage of Hoysala King Veera Ballala II.

Within the temple complex, visitors can also offer prayers to other deities including Sharada Devi (Goddess Saraswathi), Veera Narayana Swamy (Vishnu), Gopal Krishna, and Yoga Narasimha.

The temple’s tranquil ambiance and spiritual significance make it a popular destination for darshan and pooja rituals. Free darshan is available for all visitors, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for pilgrims. The temple is open daily from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

The best time to visit is during the winter months from November to February, particularly in the early morning hours between 5 and 8 AM or during the evening aarti. There is no strict dress code, but clean and conservative clothing is recommended for both men and women.

Devotees can participate in several poojas, including the morning pooja and harathi at 6:00 AM, Bilva Archana, Kumkuma Archana, and Aksharabhyasam. Rituals are conducted in Kannada, and prasadam is distributed after the morning pooja, with community meals offered during festival times.
