Airavatesvara Temple, also known locally as Airavateshvarar Temple or Darasuram Temple, is a renowned ancient temple and pilgrimage centre situated in Darasuram, near Kumbakonam in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. Dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, this temple is a remarkable example of Dravidian architecture and holds the distinction of being both an ASI protected monument and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Built during the illustrious Chola period by Rajaraja Chola II, the temple stands as a testament to the grandeur and artistic excellence of that era.
