About

Sri Venkateswara Temple Pushpagiri is a revered pilgrimage centre located in Pushpagiri Village, Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh.

Set gracefully on the banks of the Pennar River, this ancient temple complex is recognized as an ASI protected monument and is often referred to by local names such as Pushpagiri Temple Complex, Dakshina Kashi, Second Hampi, Madhya Kailasam, and Madhya Ahobilam.

The temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Vishnu, with sanctums also devoted to Lord Shiva, Kamakshi Devi, Trikuteswara Swamy, and Rama, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees of multiple deities.

The architecture of Sri Venkateswara Temple Pushpagiri reflects a mixed and renovated style, bearing the marks of the Chola period and contributions from the Ikshvakus, Chola dynasty, Rashtrakuta ruler Krishna Vallabha, and the Vijayanagara Empire.

As a riverbank temple, its serene setting and heritage status attract pilgrims and history enthusiasts alike. Darshan at the temple is available through free entry, allowing devotees to experience the divine atmosphere without any fee.

The temple is open daily from 5:30 AM to 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with the best times to visit being in the morning between 8 AM and 12 PM, during the evening aarti, in the winter months from November to February, or during major festivals and the annual brahmotsavam.

The temple conducts several poojas, including Abhishekam, Kalyanam, and Archana, performed in Telugu and Sanskrit. Daily prasadam is distributed after the morning and evening poojas, with special annadanam on festive occasions.

Major festivals celebrated here include Brahmotsavam in March-April, Maha Shivaratri in February-March, Vaikunta Ekadashi in December-January, and Shankara Jayanthi.

Visitors are expected to follow a traditional dress code: men should wear dhoti with kurta or formal pants and shirt, and women should opt for saree or chudidar with dupatta, ensuring modest attire.

Photography is permitted in the outer courtyard and among the architectural ruins, but mobile phones and cameras are restricted inside the main sanctum. Reaching the temple is convenient: travel to Kadapa city, then proceed north for about 16–25 km to Pushpagiri Village.

Kadapa Railway Station is the nearest railhead at 16 km, and Kadapa Airport offers air connectivity. Accommodation is available in Kadapa city, and open parking is provided near the temple entrance, though accessibility may be limited in older parts of the complex.

Sri Venkateswara Temple Pushpagiri stands as a testament to centuries of devotion and architectural splendor, welcoming pilgrims and visitors throughout the year.
