About

Sri Kotilinga Maheswara Temple, also known locally as Sri Umakotilingeswara Swamy Temple and Kotilinga Hari Hara Maha Kshetram, is a revered ancient temple situated on the riverbank in Kotipalli, Alluri Sitarama Raju district, Andhra Pradesh.

This prominent pilgrimage centre is dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, with the sanctum also honoring several other deities including Goddess Uma Devi, Lord Vishnu, Lord Brahma, Lord Rama, Goddess Annapoorneshwari, Goddess Karumaari Amma, Goddess Kannika Parameshwari, Lord Panchamukha Ganapathy, Lord Anjaneya, Lakshmana, and Sita.

The temple welcomes devotees from early morning, with darshan timings from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM and again from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The best time to visit is early morning between 5 and 8 AM, especially during the winter months from November to February, when the weather is pleasant and ideal for spiritual activities. Pilgrims are advised to wear modest and respectful attire during their visit.

Sri Kotilinga Maheswara Temple offers free darshan entry for all visitors. Devotees can participate in various poojas such as Abhishekam, Archana, and special pujas, conducted in Telugu and Sanskrit.

The temple is vibrant during major festivals like Maha Shivaratri (February-March), Karthika Masam (November-December), Devi Navaratrulu (October), Pushkaralu, and Rathotsavams (February-March), attracting large numbers of pilgrims.

For those seeking prasadam, the temple distributes sweets, laddoo, and tamarind rice. Annadanam, or free food, is generously offered during Karthika masam on Sundays and Mondays, as well as on major festival days, providing a fulfilling experience for devotees. Reaching the temple is convenient.

From Rajamahendravaram (Rajahmundry), the temple is about 35–40 km away, accessible via APSRTC buses and private autos towards Kotipalli Ferry or Mukteswaram. From Kakinada, it is a direct 40 km drive on the Kakinada-Kotipalli road.

Rajahmundry Railway Station is the nearest railhead at 35 km, while Rajahmundry Airport is 45 km away, both offering easy taxi and local bus options. Ample parking is available near the temple entrance, making it accessible for visitors arriving by road.
