About

Sarangapur Hanuman Temple, also known locally as Sarangapur Sri Hanuman Temple or Maruti Kshetram, is a revered pilgrimage centre nestled atop a hillock in Sarangapur, Nizamabad district, Telangana.

Dedicated primarily to Lord Hanuman, with Lord Rama also worshipped here, this ancient temple stands as a living heritage site built during the Maratha period by Saint Samarth Ramdas.

Its unique setting as a hill temple in a tranquil village atmosphere attracts devotees seeking spiritual solace and blessings. The temple is open for darshan throughout the week, with timings from 6:30 AM to 8:30 PM on weekdays and Sundays, and extended hours until 9:00 PM on Saturdays.

Devotees can avail themselves of free darshan or opt for VIP darshan. Several poojas are performed daily, including General Archana, Abhishekam, Vastra Samarpana, and the special Morning Aarti at 7:00 AM and Evening Aarti at 7:00 PM.

Rituals are conducted in Telugu and Sanskrit, ensuring a traditional spiritual experience. The best time to visit Sarangapur Hanuman Temple is during the winter months from November to February, especially in the morning hours between 8 AM and 12 PM.

Weekdays are generally less crowded, making them ideal for peaceful worship. The temple comes alive during major festivals such as Hanuman Jayanti (April–May) and Sri Rama Navami (March–April), drawing large numbers of devotees.

A traditional dress code is observed: men are expected to wear dhoti, pants, or full-length trousers with a shirt or kurta, avoiding shorts and sleeveless attire inside the main sanctum. Women should wear sarees, salwar kameez, or other modest clothing that fully covers the legs and shoulders.

Getting to the temple is convenient. Arrive in Nizamabad by road or rail, then proceed southwest towards Sarangapur road. Local auto-rickshaws or taxis are readily available from the city center, with the temple just 6.5–7 km away.

The nearest railway stations are Nizamabad (7 km) and Basar (33 km), while Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad (180 km) and Nanded Airport in Maharashtra (135 km) are the closest airports.

Ample free parking is available for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, though the rocky terrain may require assistance for those with mobility challenges. After poojas, devotees receive prasadam such as boondi, laddu, or blessed tulasi/fruit.

Free community meals (Annadanam) are typically served from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Photography is allowed in the outer premises but strictly prohibited near the inner sanctum; professional equipment or drones require prior permission.

For those wishing to explore further, nearby attractions include Nizamabad Fort (2.5 km), Ashok Sagar (8 km), Ali Sagar Dam & Reservoir (13 km), and Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Jankampet (12 km).

Accommodation options are plentiful in Nizamabad city center, with hotels such as TRP Bliss, Kapila, and Nikhil Sai International conveniently located near the railway and bus stations.
