Patanadevi (Chandika Devi) Temple

This hill temple is dedicated primarily to Goddess Shakti (Amman) and also houses a shrine for Lord Shiva, drawing devotees and spiritual seekers throughout the year.

The temple is renowned for its serene natural setting, surrounded by forested hills and close to attractions like the Patanadevi Waterfall (2 km), Pitalkhora Buddhist Caves (10 km), Rajdeher Fort (10 km), and the Gautala Autramghat Sanctuary itself.

The tranquil environment enhances the spiritual experience, making it a sought-after destination for those seeking darshan and a peaceful retreat.

Patanadevi Temple is open daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with the best time to visit being early morning (5–8 AM), during the monsoon months of June to September, or in winter from November to February.

The temple observes a modest dress code: men are recommended to wear traditional or modest Indian attire such as dhoti-kurta or trousers and shirts, while women are encouraged to wear sarees or salwar kameez.

Devotees can participate in various poojas, including Morning Aarti, Evening Aarti, Kumkum Archana, and Saptashati Path, conducted in Marathi and Sanskrit. Free darshan is available to all visitors.

The temple comes alive during major festivals such as Sharadiya Navratri (September–October), Vasantika Yatra (March–April), and the monthly Full Moon (Pournima) Pooja.

Prasadam typically includes sweets, fruits, and coconut garlands, with large-scale community meals (bhandara) organized during major festivals. Reaching Patanadevi Temple involves arriving at Chalisgaon, the primary transit base.

From the Chalisgaon bus stand or railway station, visitors can hire a taxi, auto, or use local transport to reach Patane village, followed by an 18 km journey southwest through the forest road.

Chalisgaon Junction is the nearest railway station (18 km), with Jalgaon Junction (120 km) and airports at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad, 90 km) and Jalgaon (125 km) providing additional connectivity.

Accommodation options range from a basic forest resthouse (Pathikashram) near the temple to hotels and lodges in Chalisgaon and premium hotels in Jalgaon city.

Designated open-space parking is available near the foothills, though the final approach involves uneven pathways and stone steps, which may be moderately challenging for those with mobility impairments.

Photography is permitted in the outer temple and surrounding areas, but may be restricted near the inner sanctum.
