About

Odela Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, also known locally as Odela Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, Odela Mallanna Temple, and Dakshina Srisailam, is a revered ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Situated in the Pathkapalle / Odela region of Odela, Peddapalli district, Telangana, this temple stands as a significant pilgrimage centre and village temple, drawing devotees from across the region.

The temple’s heritage traces back to the Chola period, with its construction attributed to the master artisans of the Kakatiya dynasty and the support of local patrons. It is recognized as a state heritage and living heritage temple, reflecting its enduring spiritual and cultural importance.

The main deity worshipped here is Lord Shiva, with the temple also housing sanctums for Goddess Bhramaramba Devi, Sri Rama, Sri Veerabhadra Swamy, Lord Bhairava, Shri Khandiswara Swamy, Bangaru Pochamma, Madana Pochamma, Ketamma, and Medala Devi.

Devotees can participate in a variety of poojas, including Abhishekam (Regular and Rudra Abhishekam), Kalyanam (the divine marriage ritual), Mahanyasa Purvaka Ekadasha Rudrabhishekam, Archana and Kumkumarchana for the Goddess, Samuhika Rudrabhishekam, Vahana Poojalu, and Samuhika Laksha Jwalarchana.

Rituals are performed in Telugu and Sanskrit, maintaining the temple’s traditional practices. Darshan at Odela Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple is accessible through multiple entry types: free darshan, special darshan (with fees of ₹50 or ₹200), and VIP darshan.

The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM, with extended hours up to 8:00 PM on Sundays and festival days.

The best times to visit are during the winter months (November to February), in the mornings (8 AM–12 PM), early mornings (5–8 AM), or during the vibrant festival season.

The temple celebrates several major festivals, including the annual Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy vari Tiru Kalyana Mahotsavam, Maha Shivaratri (February–March), Ugadi (March–April), Pedda Patnamulu / Agni Gunda Mahotsavam, Karthika Pournami (November–December), Sri Rama Navami (Sita Rama Kalyanam), Vinayaka Chavithi, and Navaratri and Dasara (including Shami Pooja).

Devotees are expected to follow a traditional dress code: men should wear Indian attire such as a pancha (dhoti) with an upper cloth or kurta-pyjama, while women are encouraged to wear sarees, salwar kameez, or half-sarees. Modern or revealing clothing is discouraged near the sanctum.

The temple provides open and designated parking areas, with basic wheelchair accessibility and restroom facilities. Photography and mobile phone usage are strictly prohibited inside the main sanctum, though casual photography of the outer areas may be allowed with permission.

During festivals and auspicious occasions, devotees can partake in free community meals (Annadanam) and receive traditional prasadam such as vibhuti, kumkum, laddus, or puliyodarai.
