Mahuri Kalua Temple

This ancient temple is dedicated primarily to Goddess Shakti (Amman), with Lord Shiva (Mahakaleswar) also worshipped here. Set against a scenic backdrop of hills, Mahuri Kalua Temple is renowned for its unique cave temple architecture, offering devotees a tranquil and spiritual ambiance.

Mahuri Kalua Temple welcomes devotees daily with darshan timings from 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Free darshan is available for all visitors.

Rituals and poojas are conducted in Odia and Sanskrit, maintaining the temple’s traditional practices. The temple observes a modest dress code: men are encouraged to wear dhoti-kurta or clean trousers and shirts, while women should opt for sarees, salwar kameez, or modest kurtis.

Shorts and sleeveless tops are discouraged to maintain the sanctity of the shrine. The temple comes alive during major festivals such as Durga Puja (Maha Ashtami/Dussehra) in September-October, Kali Puja in October-November, and Chaitra Parba/Navaratri in March-April.

These occasions draw large gatherings, with special rituals and community food sharing. Standard prasadam, including coconuts, sweets, and puffed rice, is distributed during worship and festivals, while large-scale daily annadanam is not a regular feature.

For visitors, ample open parking is available at the foothills, and the entrance and parking lot are wheelchair-accessible, though assistance may be needed due to the hilly terrain.

Photography is permitted in the outer premises and hills, but is restricted inside the inner sanctum, respecting the temple’s sacred atmosphere.
