About

Lakshmi Narayan Temple Bilaspur, also known locally as Laxmi Narayan Mandir Bilaspur, stands as a revered pilgrimage centre and ancient village temple in the heart of Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh.

This temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Vishnu, with the divine presence of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Shiva, Rangnath, Maa Durga, and Baba Bangali also worshipped within its serene premises.

The temple is situated conveniently near the Bilaspur Bus Stand/ISBT area, making it easily accessible for devotees and visitors arriving via HRTC buses or private cabs along the Chandigarh-Manali NH-21.

From the main bus stand, the temple is just a short walk or a quick five-minute auto or taxi ride into the town sectors, close to the municipal and excise blocks. The temple showcases the Nagara (North Indian) architectural style and has a unique history.

Originally built by the Kahlur (Bilaspur) princely state, it was later rebuilt by the local community after the submersion caused by the Bhakra Dam project. Today, it is managed by a panchayat or local trust and remains an important spiritual and cultural landmark for the region.

Lakshmi Narayan Temple Bilaspur welcomes devotees for darshan every day from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with timings sometimes extending up to 8:30 PM. Free darshan is available to all visitors.

The temple conducts daily morning darshan and aarti from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and evening darshan with sandhya aarti from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Special archana or personal sankalp poojas can be performed during opening hours, with rituals conducted in Sanskrit and Hindi.

The best time to visit is during the winter months (November to February), especially in the morning between 8 AM and 12 PM or during the evening aarti.

Major festivals celebrated here include Janmashtami (August or September) and Maha Shivratri (February or March), when the temple hosts community feasts (bhandaras) and distributes prasadam such as sugar candies, panchamrit, or dry sweets after aarti.

Visitors are advised to adhere to the dress code: men should wear traditional or modest casual clothing, while women are expected to dress in sarees, salwar kameez, or conservative attire.

Photography inside the main sanctum is restricted, though exterior and courtyard photography is generally allowed. For those planning a stay, Bilaspur town offers multiple hotels, guesthouses, and lodges near the temple and bus stand.

Parking is available nearby, though it may be limited during peak times. The temple’s location also makes it easy to explore nearby attractions like Gobind Sagar Lake.

The nearest railway stations are Kiratpur Sahib (65 km), Anandpur Sahib (75 km), and Una Himachal (90 km), ensuring good connectivity for pilgrims traveling from afar.
