Kurumurthy Swamy Temple

Situated atop the scenic Kurupathu Hills (Kurumurthy hillocks) near Ammapuram in Mahabubnagar district, Telangana, this ancient pilgrimage centre is often referred to as the “Second Tirupati” by devotees.

The temple’s tranquil setting and spiritual significance attract pilgrims from across the region, making it a prominent destination for those seeking darshan and blessings of Lord Venkateswara.

The temple’s daily timings are from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM, allowing devotees ample opportunity to participate in rituals and seek blessings.

The best time to visit Kurumurthy Swamy Temple is during the winter months from November to February, especially in the morning hours between 8 AM and 12 PM, or during the evening aarti.

The festival season, particularly in November, draws large crowds, with the Sri Kurumurthy Swamy Jatara being a major annual event that commences a week after Deepavali.

Other important festivals celebrated here include Uddala Utsavam, Brahmotsavam, Vaikunta Ekadasi, and various events during Sravana Masam. Devotees can avail themselves of free darshan at the temple.

The main poojas performed include General Darshan & Daily Archana, Suprabhatam, Abhishekam, and Archana, with rituals conducted in Telugu and Sanskrit.

Simple traditional prasadam is distributed during darshan hours, and community-sponsored annadanam is organized during major festivals and the annual Jatara, adding to the spiritual experience for visitors.

Visitors are expected to adhere to a traditional dress code: men are encouraged to wear dhoti or kurtas/pyjamas, or clean, conservative trousers and shirts, while women should opt for sarees, half-sarees, or salwar kameez with dupattas.

Shorts, sleeveless tops, and revealing or western clothing are discouraged or not permitted. Reaching the temple involves ascending about 200 steps from the foothills, where adequate open-air parking is available.

While the temple is not fully wheelchair accessible at the upper sanctum, the journey offers panoramic views and a serene atmosphere. Photography is permitted in the outer premises and courtyards, but strictly prohibited inside the main inner shrine or sanctum.
