Kesavaraya Temple Keshoraipatan

This ancient temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Vishnu, with sanctums also devoted to Charbhuja Ji and Lord Krishna, making it a significant spiritual destination for Vaishnavites and devotees seeking darshan of these deities.

The temple is an excellent example of Nagara (North Indian) architecture, and its riverbank setting adds to the tranquil and sacred atmosphere.

Kesavaraya Temple is recognized as a living heritage temple managed by a panchayat or local trust, with its origins attributed to Rao Raja Chattar Sal (Chhatrasal) of Bundi and initial sanctity linked to King Ranti Deo, though the exact historical period remains unknown or disputed.

Devotees can participate in a variety of daily poojas and rituals conducted in Sanskrit and Hindi. The temple opens early, with Mangla Aarti at 5:00 AM, followed by Shringar Aarti from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Rajbhog Darshan in the morning, Sandhya Aarti at 7:00 PM, and Shayan Darshan in the evening.

The temple timings are from 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM daily, with a closure from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM for Pat Bandh. Entry for darshan is free for all visitors.

Kesavaraya Temple is especially vibrant during festivals such as Kartik Poornima Fair in November, Jal Jhulani Ekadashi in August–September, Janmashtami in August, and Diwali in October–November.

The best times to visit are during winter months, early mornings between 5–8 AM, evening aarti, and festival seasons, including the annual brahmotsavam.

Traditional sweets like mishri, dry fruits, and modak-based offerings are distributed as prasadam, and community-sponsored free food (bhandara) is available during major festivals.

Visitors are requested to adhere to the temple’s dress code: men should wear modest traditional attire such as kurta-pyjama or full-length trousers, while women are expected to wear sarees, salwar-kameez, or long skirts with covered shoulders and knees.

Photography and videography are strictly prohibited inside the inner sanctum and worship zones, though exterior shots from the courtyards or riverbank are generally allowed. Reaching the temple is convenient via Kota (20 km) or Bundi (45 km).

From Kota, take the Kota-Keshoraipatan road for a 25–35 minute drive; from Bundi, follow NH 12/52 and the state highway to Keshoraipatan. The nearest railway stations are Keshorai Patan, Kota Junction (13 km), and Bundi (42 km).
